Rick is a life long resident of Parkersburg.
Son of the late Amos S. Modesitt and the late Glenna Gribble Hellberg.
He attended Wood County Schools, including McKinley, VanDevender, and Parkersburg High School.
He attended WVU at Parkersburg (PCC) and the West Virginia State Police Academy
He served as a Parkersburg Police Officer from 1975 to 1997. Rising to the ranks of Chief of Police as appointed by Mayor Eugene Knotts 1994-1997.
Rick was Twice appointed acting Mayor of Parkersburg; He was twice elected to the WV House of Delegates (74th and 75th Legislature) He served as Wood County Commissioner from 2000-2010.
He was previously appointed Chairman of the West Virginia Athletic Commission by both Governor Caperton and Governor Underwood. Served 10 years and 8 years a Chairman.
He is President of Rick Modesitt & Associates Inc. and multi state entertainment production company. He is also a licensed Realtor.
